A few clues to get started
Explore nature, forest, mountains, sky. Look for these features as you bring the picture together:
- Use a visible ridgeline or cliff edge to divide sky from land. Match the angle of that line, then work into rock, snow, or shadow only where those details appear.
- In wooded areas, follow the direction of trunks and branches before matching similar greens. If there is a path or a gap between trees, use its boundary to connect clusters.
- Sort open sky by brightness and color temperature. If clouds are present, follow their edges first and save smooth areas for when surrounding clusters are in place.
