A few clues to get started

Explore art, illustration. Look for these features as you bring the picture together:

• Separate light areas from shadow first. Follow the edge of a bright patch and compare warm and cool shades rather than treating every orange or pink piece as a match.
• If water meets land or sky, build that boundary first. Treat reflections as a separate area: similar colors can appear on both sides of the shoreline without being neighboring pieces.
• Follow printed outlines and transitions between color blocks. With repeating patterns or gradients, confirm both piece shape and the direction of the color change.
